FANTASY AND REALITY OF JULI DE VAROKIE PHILOSOPHICAL PHOTO WORLD

She has been in the world of photography quite recently, since 2008, but in four years, Julie has already received seven different photo awards. She is only 23 years old. However, all these “only” and “recently” in combination with the French temperament and philosophical education help her create her own world, reflected in the pictures.
Julie de Varokie is a self-taught photographer from France who started her photo career in 2008. She is still a student at the French Ecole Normale Supérieure, where she received a philosophical education, and that philosophy became the main plot of her works. In her photographs, fantasies and reality intertwined, naive children’s dreams and adult conceptualism, a routine of life and fairy tales. When looking at her photographs, it seems as if you are being transferred to parallel worlds.
Julie de Varokie, self-taught photographer, how to become self-taught photographer
“I do not know where all these images come from. Probably from the books that I read in my childhood, from the sounds of sunbeams and people. But the main sources of my inspiration remain the books of Freud, the tales of Perrot and Ségur, the paintings of Magritte. ”
Photography helps Julie fix reality, while allowing her to interpret it in her own way. As a result, the images, which each of us has seen many times, acquire their own fabulous color, while retaining a deep meaning. Nostalgia, mixed with a dream, calls the viewer to happiness.
Julie has won seven awards in various competitions.
Julie admits: “I do not know where all these images come from. Probably from the books that I read in my childhood, from the sounds of sunbeams and people. But the main sources of my inspiration remain the books of Freud, the tales of Perrot and Ségur, the paintings of Magritte. <…> I try to surprise people, not a single artist wants his works to be “silent”. It should be a fairy tale, poetry in a picture, symbolism, something that will speak for itself. With the help of symbolism, I explore everything that is invisible in man – his mind, feelings, thoughts, fears. I seek to wash away where, at first glance, only absurdity and emptiness. ”
“I try to surprise people, no artist wants his works to be“ silent ”
Despite the fact that Julie de Varokie appeared in the world of photography not so long ago, her pictures were already exhibited in many galleries, became covers for books and CDs. Julie has won seven awards in various competitions, including the Talents award for Emergency Artist Award, the Nikon contest for the Promenades Photographiques de Vendôme and others.
